Fibre optics on the road network

The project lays the infrastructure required to deploy fibre optics along 252 km of roads. It aims to promote access to broadband service in towns with low population density and to bring about good territorial balance in the province. It also facilitates the construction of walkable pavements, a significant improvement for road safety. The project was coordinated with the Government of Catalonia Centre for Telecommunications and Information Technology (CTTI) and the agreement will allow the Barcelona Provincial Council to set aside channels for future use for any technologically advanced road services.
